Redox Signs Licensing Agreement With OPKO Health, Inc.
On June 12, 2008, OPKO and Redox entered into an agreement whereby OPKO acquired the rights for all ophthalmic uses of Doxovir.

Redox Pharmaceutical Corporation has been granted approval from Health Canada to perform clinical studies on Herpes Labialis (cold sores).  Phase IB Clinical Trials (initial proof of safety and efficacy) have been successfully completed. A Phase II Clinical Trial on Herpes Labialis has been approved and has now been initiated.

Redox Signs Licensing Agreement With OPKO Health, Inc.

Redox has concluded its first licensing agreement with OPKO Health, Inc., a pharmaceutical company specializing in ophthalmic drugs. OPKO’S press release, (linked below), provides additional details.

Under the terms of the agreement, OPKO is required to conduct the Phase II and III Efficacy Trials at their expense. On obtaining New Drug Approval, OPKO has the right to conduct world-wide sales with provision for an ascending rate of royalties to Redox as sales milestones are reached. OPKO is a public company (AMEX-OPK). The Chairman of OPKO, Dr. Phillip Frost, sold his previous company several years ago to one of the top 50 pharmaceutical companies in a multi-billion dollar transaction.

Clinical Trials on Herpes Labialis (cold sores):

  • Phase Ib Clinical Trials have been successfully completed.
  • Phase II Clinical Trials on Herpes Labialis are now being performed.

Clinical Trials on Ophthalmic Herpetic Keratitis and Adenoviral conjunctivitis (pink eye):

  • Phase I Clinical Trials for these two ophthalmic applications have been successfully completed.
  • Phase II Clinical Trials for both ophthalmic Herpetic Keratitis and ocular Adenoviral conjunctivitis (pink eye) are currently being performed. Phase II clinical trials for Adenovirus-derived Keratoconjunctivitis application are being performed under licensing to OPKO Health Inc., which has acquired worldwide rights to all ocular applications of our novel drug.
